Over the past eight years of their marriage, Prince William and Kate Middleton rarely showed signs of affection in public. But that has seemingly changed in recent years as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been showing more PDA than ever before. The change has led some royal experts to theorize that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – who have always been the more affectionate couple – may have inspired the Cambridges to be more open about their love.
Prince William and Middleton show more PDA than ever before
William and Kate have always been very professional during royal engagements, but the two have been showing a bit more affection over the past two years.
During their recent trip to Shout’s Crisis Volunteers, for example, Prince William took a move out of Prince Harry’s playbook and put his hand affectionately on Middleton’s back.
The move isn’t particularly romantic for most ordinary people, but it is a pretty big deal for members of the royal family. The royals are usually very reserved in public settings and rarely show even the slightest hint of affection.
Prince Harry and Markle, of course, are an exception to this rule. Ever since they started dating, the two have never been afraid of showing a little PDA. But did they really inspire Middleton and Prince William to show more love?
Why are Prince William and Middleton showing more PDA?
According to Express, Judi James has looked at photos of William and Kate at recent engagements and believes they are showing a bit more PDA than usual. James, who is an expert in body language, is also convinced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be behind the sudden change.
“There does seem to be a slow but steady increase in the PDA rate between Kate and William over the past year or so, with this affectionate back-stroke display being the most recent example,” James shared.
James added that Harry and Meghan’s displays of affection have been well received by the public, which could be why the Cambridges are suddenly on board with the idea.
The body language expert also pointed out that Middleton could be feeling inspired by her close relationship with Queen Elizabeth.
James argues that Queen Elizabeth’s body language around Middleton is a clear sign that the two are close and that Her Majesty greatly approves of the Duchess. That said, there is another viable explanation behind the couple’s newfound PDA.
Did Prince Louis bring Kate Middleton and Prince William closer?
A pretty good explanation for the couple’s recent displays of affection is the arrival of their third child, Prince Louis.
Middleton, who is a proud mother of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, had her third child in the spring of last year. James believes that Prince Louis’ birth could have brought Middleton and Prince William closer as they are very hands-on parents.
William could also be showing more affection because of the negative rumors surrounding him and Prince Harry.
The Duke of Sussex recently confirmed that he has been feuding with Prince William in a documentary titled Harry and Meghan: An African Journey. The admission could have pushed William closer to Kate as he looks for support.
Prince Harry and Prince William join forces
This past weekend, members of the royal family gathered in honor of Remembrance Sunday. Although there is a lot of tension between Harry and William, the brothers appeared united as they laid down wreaths to honor the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for their country.
The two were dressed in their respective military uniforms and appeared solemn throughout the event. Both of their spouses were also in attendance at the ceremony.
While a show of solidarity could have combated the feud rumors, Harry and William did not interact at all during the event.
The royal family has not addressed the rumors surrounding Prince Harry and Prince William’s relationship. In the documentary, Prince Harry talked about experiencing ups and downs with his brother and admitted they are on different paths in life.
Markle and Prince Harry, meanwhile, are expected to travel to Los Angeles this month to visit her mother, Doria Ragland. They are scheduled to remain in the United States through Thanksgiving, though they will not be spending Christmas with Queen Elizabeth at Sandringham.
