How Queen Elizabeth Reacted To Prince Harry’s ‘Bombshell’ Statement Against The British Press

Queen Elizabeth was reportedly informed about Prince Harry’s plan to release a statement regarding Meghan Markle. However, there are rumors that Prince Charles and Prince William only found out about the Duke of Sussex’s plans after his statement was released.

Sara Latham, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s press secretary, told Express that the Queen was aware of what the royal couple was planning to do. Latham also denied the allegations that Prince Harry didn’t consult with his father and older brother.

But Latham stressed that she and Samantha Cohen, the royal couple’s private secretary, didn’t have any involvement in the statement that Prince Harry released. The new dad slammed the British press for their ruthless campaign against the “Suits” alum for the past couple of months.

Earlier this week, a royal source told The Sun that the Queen must have not been impressed with the timing of Prince Harry’s statement. This is because Prince Harry and Meghan were still in South Africa for their royal tour when they decided to hit out at the British press.“This is not the done thing on a royal tour when the principals are representing the Queen and country,” the source said. “I can’t imagine the Queen will be very impressed,” the source added.

Meanwhile, a royal expert also shared her thoughts regarding Prince Harry’s bold move. Penny Junor told The Guardian that it seemed as though the Duke of Sussex has been holding on to his pent-up rage for the past couple of months. Another source also said that Prince Harry had been planning on filing a lawsuit and releasing a statement since March.

“It is absolutely extraordinary,” Junor said. “People can understand Harry taking issue with someone printing a private letter. But his statement went far beyond that. It is as though he has got months of pent-up rage in him. I really, really question the wisdom of taking on the media in this way,” she added.

BBC’s royal editor, Nicholas Witchell, was surprised by the timing of the letter because it was released during the royal couple’s successful royal tour. After a series of backlashes, Prince Harry and Meghan were finally receiving good PR, but the controversial statement presented them in a negative light once again.
