While it might seem like the royal family is plagued with feud rumors, cheating allegations, and scandals galore, they actually know a thing or two about keeping their real business out of the news. Last week, Kensington Palace confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to forgo royal tradition and wait until they have had some times as a family of three before introducing their baby to the public.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby,” the palace said in a statement. “Their royal highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family,” they added.

Despite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to keep the birth of their firstborn a secret, the public is ecstatic about his or her much-anticipated arrival and likely won’t keep away from St Mary’s Hospital and other rumored places of birth. How will the royal family distract the public when Meghan Markle goes into labor? Find out, below.

How the royal family might distract the public when Meghan Markle goes into labor

If Meghan Markle doesn’t opt for a home birth and instead delivers at the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital or another hospital close to Frogmore Cottage, the royal family will likely need to distract the public from these places when she goes into labor.

Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex don’t plan on sharing their baby’s arrival at first, it must look like their offices are continuing to operate. One way they might do so is by sharing news about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s work, such as this posting.

Additionally, they might utilize Prince William and Kate Middleton’s social media and distract the public with a new photo of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, or Prince Louis — or make another type of announcement to attract eyes to their page.

On top of online distractions, the royal family might have the Duke and Duchess take an alternative route to the hospital. While the plan wouldn’t exactly be seamless, they might be able to throw off some paparazzi and fans. Alternate routes are regularly practiced in the royal family as a security measure.

In addition to taking a different route, they might try to make it to the hospital in the middle of the night or early morning — even if Meghan Markle is only in the early stages of labor. If the Duchess of Sussex intends to give birth at a hospital and starts to experience contractions in the middle of the night or early morning, she will likely head to the hospital as soon as possible. Leaving in the middle of the night or early morning means fewer eyes on her and Prince Harry.
