EXCLUSIVE: The Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson are believed to have secretly got back together – but could use the attention around Harry and Meghan to quietly go public

Prince Harry’s dramatic exit from the Royal Family could pave the way for Andrew and Fergie to go public as a couple, an expert has claimed.

The Duke of York, 59, and Sarah Ferguson, 60, divorced 22 years ago – but are believed to be secretly back together.

Royal insiders claim they were planning to formally announce the relationship – but shelved the plan after Andrew’s car-crash Newsnight interview about Jeffrey Epstein.

Andrew has avoided the limelight following his sacking from the Firm last November.

But an expert told the Daily Star Online that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell decision to step down as senior royals could provide the perfect cover for the pair to reunite.

Royal Central Deputy Editor Brittani Barger told the Daily Star Online: “I think the massive media attention and attention in general on the Sussexes right now is a good time for them to get quietly back together.

“With Andrew’s recent problematic interview and relations with Jeffrey Epstein, I don’t see anything going public for a bit because he is remaining as far out of the public discussion as he can.

“Getting back together privately where the family only knows, now that may have already happened privately.

“They seem like a pair that still love each other even though they divorced.

“I can see them back together at some point in the future publicly but that will be a while yet, I think, due to his scandal.”Last April ITV News’ royal editor claimed that Andrew and Fergie were “unofficially back together” after flying to Bahrain on a visit as “partners”.

It came after Fergie broke her silence on her and Andrew’s life together, describing it as “our fairytale” and “the greatest ever”.

Daily Star Online then later revealed how Fergie – who lives in the same Royal Lodge at Windsor Castle as Andrew – continues to flood the Prince’s Twitter page with “likes” amid the claims. And in recent weeks Fergie re-fuelled the claims by voicing her support for Andrew amid the Jeffrey Epstein crisis which has forced him to step down from all royal duties.

She gave her backing to the Duke amid allegations from Virginia Roberts that he had sex with her when she was 17 while she was allegedly used as a sex slave by Epstein. Andrew vehemently denies the claim.

Yesterday, an unsmiling Queen, 93, was pictured driving her Range Rover to a shoot alongside her grandson Peter Phillips, 42.

The Monarch has told her staff to find a “workable solution”.

It’s believed that talks have begun with the British and Canadian governments to discuss the couple’s security.

Meghan and Harry wish to split their time between the UK and North America and keep their titles but earning an independent salary.
