Yesterday, October 9th, the Sussex Royal Instagram channel released a mysterious video of Prince Harry inviting Ed Sheeran and a camera crew into his home.
Harry quipped that it was “like looking in a mirror” when he answered the door to the musician, as the two are often mistaken for each other.
Now, the full video starring the pair has been released on Instagram which sees them sit down and have a serious talk to raise awareness for a cause dear to their hearts.
“Ed, Thanks very much for coming, I really appreciate it,” says Harry as they sit down at the living room table.
The Shape of You singer replies: “Thanks for having me man, this is something I’m quite passionate about,” to which Harry replies “Oh, you too?”
Over the course of the video it seems like the pair are on the same page about the message, which is clearly to raise awareness for World Mental Health Day.
“This for me, is a subject and a conversation that is just not talked about often enough, I think people all over the world are really suffering,” says the Duke of Sussex.
Ed replies saying that he was actually trying to write a song about it, to which Harry says is a great idea based on his skillset as a songwriter.
The Prince said: “Someone with your skill set, to be able to write lyrics of a song to raise awareness I think would be amazing.”
However, the two have their wires crossed and are confused about what they’re raising awareness for as the recording artist says he’s standing up for ”gingers”.
The number one selling artist then says: “That’s exactly what I’m trying to do, people just don’t understand what it’s like for people like us.”
He continues: “With the jokes, the snide comments, I just feel like it’s time that we stood up and we’re not going to take this anymore. We’re ginger and going to fight.”
Prince Harry then says that the situation was “awkward” as he actually was trying to raise awareness for World Mental Health Day.
Ed then sheepishly deletes the words GINGERS UNITE from his laptop word document, with the artist looking awkwardly towards the camera.
The word document also reads: ”HRH Prince Harry and the king of ging Ed Sheeran get together to change the perception of people with Moroccan sunset hair.”
The sketch ends with the two asking people to reach out and seek or offer help to anyone suffering with mental health.
The statement accompanying the video reads: “It’s World Mental Health Day! Both Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran want to ensure that not just today but every day, you look after yourself, your friends and those around you.
“There’s no need to suffer in silence – share how you’re feeling, ask how someone is doing and listen for the answer.
“Be willing to ask for help when you need it and know that we are all in this together. #WMHD”
