The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are at the seaside resort for a busy day of engagements.
As the couple arrived inside the iconic Blackpool Tower, they paused to look at a large mirror that was unveiled by Princess Diana in 1992 to mark the opening of Tower World.
Prince William smiled, saying ‘fantastic’ and ‘amazing’ as they stopped to observe the mirror.
Manager for Merlin Entertainment Kate Shane gave them some history about the tower.
Despite the grey skies, hundreds of people were gathered outside with umbrellas to catch a glimpse of the royal couple.
The Duchess looked stunning in a green Micheal Corrs dress, Sports Max coat and her hair pulled in a topknot as she waved at the crowds.
William and Kate were received by Lord Shuttleworth, her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant to Lancashire.
They were introduced to Antony Attard, the High Sheriff of Lancashire and his wife Patricia.
The royals also met Gary and Debbie Coleman, the Mayor and Mayoress of Blackpool, Simon Blackburn, Leader of Blackpool Council, and Mr Gordon Marsden, Member of Parliament for Blackpool South.
Next, Kate and William were taken on a balcony overlooking the Ballroom to watch dozens of local couples dancing a traditional waltz.
The ballroom was arranged last minute as the couple had expressed interest in seeing it.
For their first engagement in the town, the Duke and Duchess are sitting in on a roundtable briefing about the town’s recent history, the challenges, and the investment and regeneration efforts that are currently underway.
