THE MATERNITY unit where Meghan Markle could give birth to her royal baby is “fit for a duchess”, according to a mother who delivered her children there.

The Duchess of Sussex is said to be planning to give birth at the Mulberry Birth Centre at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey. The hospital is close to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, where Prince Harry and Meghan are moving ahead of the arrival of their tot. And mother-of-three Jo Thomson, who gave birth at the maternity unit, said it is “fit for a duchess”.

Ms Thomson told The Sun: “They really look after you there and explain everything really well.

“They’re very friendly and experienced, they really care.

“If Meghan does give birth there, I think all the ladies would be so excited but they’d be super professional about it.

“It’s certainly fit for a duchess; the Mulberry Suite is just incredible, and to think it’s part of the NHS so completely free, it’s mind-blowing.”

Ms Thomson said the hospital is “like a hotel” and even offers a vegan menu.

She said: “All the beds are absolutely huge; mine was Kingsize, and I remember being astonished by my massive bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.

“It’s really feminine, the walls are covered in pictures of flowers and you can have different colour settings and moods with all the lights.”

Ms Thomson added: “Even though you’re giving birth and you’re in a lot of pain, it does have a relaxing spa atmosphere to it and that really helps!”

It follows reports that Meghan does not want to give birth at the exclusive Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital, where the Duchess of Cambridge had her three children.

Meghan is due to give birth at the end of April or the beginning of May.

The 37-year-old let slip her due date during a royal engagement to Birkenhead last week.

Kensington Palace had only previously said that Meghan was due to give birth in the spring.

Speaking to royal well-wishers during the visit to the Merseyside town, Meghan added that she and Harry did not know if she was having a boy or a girl.
