Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been lying relatively low since the birth of their son, Archie Harrison, in early May. Although Prince Harry has been spotted at several royal engagements since then, the bulk of his time has been reserved for his wife and son. Markle has only appeared once or twice, causing quite a stir whenever anyone gets a glimpse of the happy new mom.

Still, the time is approaching when the new family will have to get back into the swing of things and continue their royal duties in full force. A recent announcement from Prince Harry and Markle has everyone excited about the direction of their charity efforts, and how the couple is working together to change the monarchy.

Meghan Markle is dedicated to charity

Markle has always been committed to doing good in the world, and long before she married Prince Harry, she devoted her time to various causes that are close to her heart. She even spoke out against gender inequality when she was still a young child.

In 2016, Markle became a Global Ambassador for World Vision, traveling to Rwanda to work with underprivileged children. She has also spent a great deal of time working with animal charities and various organizations for the empowerment of women. There’s little doubt that her love of charity is one of the traits that helped draw Prince Harry to her, and made him realize that she was the perfect partner for him.

Since marrying into the royal family, Markle has been working harder than ever to raise awareness for educational causes, institutions for the education of women, and arts education foundations. She was even granted several special assignments from Queen Elizabeth, who quickly realized that Markle is no stranger to hard work and has a natural ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to tour Africa

Since giving birth to Archie Harrison on May 8th, Markle has been on maternity leave, resting and bonding with her baby son. She has also been quietly preparing to return to the spotlight alongside Prince Harry. The couple has likely been planning out the remainder of their year, analyzing where they could do the most good – and they settled on the country of Africa.

In late June, Prince Harry and Markle took to social media to announce that in the fall, they, along with Archie Harrison, would be traveling to Southern Africa in order to raise awareness of the work that different charities are doing there. The couple made sure to point out on the Instagram post that the trip would be their first official tour as a family, setting the tone for the next chapter in their story.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will gain many new fans on their tour

The fact that the couple is choosing to go overseas for their first major royal engagement after the birth of their son speaks volumes. Markle has continued to experience relentless bullying from the press as well as social media, even after becoming a mother. Escaping England will provide the family with a welcome respite from constant media scrutiny and allow them to get back to basics, working towards causes that they find the most worthwhile.

The trip will also allow many royal watchers to see them in a whole new light, as emissaries, traveling the world with their infant son. Exposing Baby Archie to other facets and areas of the world will allow him to become a global citizen from an early age, and follows the example set by Prince Harry’s mother: Princess Diana. There’s no doubt that she would be proud of her son, and of the family that he has helped to build.
